Each gite will have details of local market days in the area, evening market venues etc. There are some events out of season but the majority are in the summer months.
During July and August there are several evening markets each week. These are not like the morning markets but are actually about both buying and eating the food! Trestle tables are set up in the town or village square and local producers set up their stalls around the edge. It is possible to buy your dinner - maybe foie gras or a salad to start and possibly duck or chicken followed by cheese and fruit. These evenings are an excellent opportunity to have fun, meet people, eat well and drink local wine at vineyard prices. There is often dancing or music.
Some weekends the market will have a particular theme with a seasonal fair or event. Annually, in Issigeac, there is a Basket Fair, a Flower Market, an Antiques fair, a Medieval Weekend and a Craft Fair.
During the summer there' are a few festivals where a town will close off its roads and party all evening and into the night. There will be street bands, marching bands, food and drink stalls. The Issigeac Bodega is always held on the Sunday just before 14th July (Bastille day) but there are also Bodegas in Villereal and Castillonès.
